Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board are currently into their 3rd year of a 3 year contract for pbx maintenance with Unify/1st Comms. 1st Comms provide support and maintenance to 68 x individual telephone systems of different vendors, ranging from BT versatility, ambassador, Panasonic, Samsung, rhapsody etc.
Over the last 2 years, 1st Comms have provided an excellent service to the Health Board, providing a prompt, efficient and friendly customer service that includes: prompt fault resolution, experienced engineering, technical support, site surveys, telephony advice aswell as price quotations and information on all telephony and pbx equipment.
In June last year, the main District General Hospital in Bangor was hit by lightening, which took out 173 system cards i.e. analogue and digital extension cards and PRI cards on our Meridian Opt 61. We also partially lost 3 other telephone systems on other sites due to lightening. (see below)
Although 1st Comms did not maintain our main Meridian pbx, we were regularly in contact with them for procuring telephony equipment and felt they would be able to help. They were able to source and supply to us some of those damaged cards at very short notice, enabling us to get our services up and running again. We also purchased replacement phones and other telephony equipment in order to resume service. 1st Comms were extremely helpful and were able to source the kit for us and deliver to site within hours/days of the incident, which was valuable and essential to allow service continuity.
1st Comms also acted promptly to bring our other 3 sites (GP Out of Hours, Mountain View (both Versatility systems) and Catherine Gladstone House (Samsung Voicemail) back up, having to totally replace the systems in 2 out of the 3 cases.
In addition to the above, we recently lost one of our Community sites (Tywyn) as a result of fire caused by an electrical surge. We had to act quick to restore telephony at the site, but the existing system (Meridian Opt 11) was destroyed. Although 1st Comms did not maintain the system at the time, due to their reliability and excellent track record, we contacted them to obtain a quote to replace the system for an IP based system. They were able to recommend an Avaya IP Office solution, including 60 extensions which suited our needs. In less than a week of first engaging with 1st Comms, they had installed, configured and commissioned a brand new IP Office telephone system to our site. The engineer was extremely confident, experienced and professional and spent a total of 3 days on site working closely with our ICT Voice and Network engineers to ensure that the system was installed on our network. On-site training was also included on a site user level and administrator level.
In our opinion, we cannot fault the service 1st Comms have provided during the duration of the contract, they conduct themselves in a professional manner and are extremely knowledgeable in Telecommunications. In all, they provide an excellent service and we hope to continue working with them in the future.
We have now been with 1st Communications for over a year and from day one their service levels have been outstanding. The technicians have always been very helpful and prompt.
Their new telephone system replaced our antiquated one and it was the best decision we ever made. The transition was seamless and the onsite training was very comprehensive.
