Features
ADSL 2+
ADSL was the original “always on” High-Speed Broadband service. The ADSL2+ variant offers a service for offices with up to 10 users, also suitable for home workers or single users. Offering speeds of “up to 24Mbps” downstream and “up to 1.3Mbps” upstream. Speeds are location dependent. ADSL2+ uses the copper wires of traditional phone lines to deliver Broadband to the phone socket.
Broadband specifically for Voice over IP (VoIP) telephony
Our “Assured” and “Converged” broadband services are based on ADSL2+ & FTTC technology. These products are designed specifically for use with our VoIP Telephony services to ensure voice quality is achieved at all-times. These products are particularly useful where only lower speed broadband is available.
ADSL 2+ Annex M
A variation of ADSL2+ that offers a boost to the upstream speed, at the expense of the downstream speed. This product suits users who want to utilize the upstream for Calls using VoIP or to upload amounts of data. Offering speeds of “up to 24Mbps” downstream and “up to 2.5Mbps” upstream. Speeds are location dependent.
FTTC G.Fast
G.Fast broadband is the latest variant of FTTC. The difference is that where FTTC uses VDSL2 to encode the data stream, G.Fast technology allows for much quicker speeds. G.Fast is available as either 160:30 or 330:50 Mbps. This service is usually only available for premises located very close to the street cabinet serving their Broadband.
Note: All of the above products are rate adaptive and will provide the best possible speed that a business telephone line will support.
Fibre to the Premises (FTTP)
FTTP is a broadband service based on Fibre Optic all the way to the end user’s premises (no copper). Being a full fibre service, much higher speeds are available as well as higher rates of reliability. With FTTP there is no “up to” bandwidth. The bandwidth that you buy is the bandwidth that you will obtain over full Fibre. FTTP is being rolled out across the UK, but is currently only available in “pockets”. FTTP roll out is initially being targeted in locations where ADSL2+ is the only option. Several bandwidth options are available –FTTP 40:10, 80:20, 160:30, 330:50, 500:165 and 1Gb:500Mbps.
Fibre to the Cabinet (FTTC)
FTTC was the 2nd generation of High-Speed Broadband. 2 variants available FTTC 40:10 & FTTC 80:20. Suitable service for offices with up to 20 users, also suitable for home workers or single users. Offering maximum downstream speeds of either 40 or 80Mbps and maximum upstream speeds of either 10 or 20Mbps. Speeds are location dependent. FTTC is provided on Fibre Optic to the nearest Openreach street cabinet. It then uses the copper wires of your phone line to bring the Broadband service into your office/home.
